Families looking for the perfect Bank Holiday day out are being invited to climb aboard for three days of unforgettable entertainment as South Devon Railway launches its Family Fun Weekend from 2nd – 4th May.
Combining heritage steam trains, wildlife encounters and family attractions, the special event offers three attractions for one ticket, creating one of the best value family experiences in the South West this spring.
Visitors can enjoy travel on the historic South Devon Railway, running frequent steam heritage train services through the stunning Dart Valley countryside, alongside free entry to Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies and Totnes Rare Breeds Farm.
It means one ticket unlocks a full day of steam, scenery, animals and adventure.
At Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies, families can step into a tropical world filled with free flying butterflies, exotic plants and playful otters in specially designed habitats.
At Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, children can meet friendly farm animals and enjoy hands on countryside fun.
Back on the railway, visitors can soak up the golden age of travel with a nostalgic steam train ride along the River Dart, passing through beautiful landscapes between Buckfastleigh, known as the gateway to Dartmoor, and the historic market town of Totnes.
There is even more to enjoy across the railway site, including family activities, play areas, a museum, gift shop and scenic riverside walks, making it an ideal all-weather day out whatever the forecast.
“Our Family Fun Weekend is all about bringing together everything people love about a great day out,” said Ernest Elsworth Wilson, General Manager at South Devon Railway.
“You can enjoy the magic of steam trains, spend time with amazing wildlife, visit the farm and make family memories all in one place.
“It is fantastic value and a brilliant way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend,” he added.
