Crowds flock as comic con brings cosplay chaos and creatures to town

Capes, creatures and characters took centre stage as a family-friendly comic convention returned with a packed day of entertainment, props and cosplay.

Barnstaple Comic Con Spring drew visitors of all ages for a day filled with film and television memorabilia, gaming zones and interactive displays, alongside a strong turnout of costumed fans.

The event took place on Sunday, April 12, running from 10am to 4.30pm at Tarka Leisure Centre, where the venue’s tennis hall was transformed into a busy exhibition space.

A wide range of traders offered items including comics, board games, computer games, Lego and Japanese manga, while themed displays and photo opportunities proved popular throughout the day.

Cosplay remained a central feature, with attendees joining character meet-ups and taking part in competitions, as well as posing with backdrops inspired by major franchises.

Among the attractions were themed prop sets and displays based on well-known titles, alongside a large dinosaur zone, gaming areas and interactive experiences for visitors.

Guests from film and television also attended, with appearances including Jordan Renzo, Sophie Hopkins and Greg Austin.

Visitors were also able to watch comic artists at work, take part in tabletop gaming and experience themed installations ranging from science fiction to fantasy.
