Much-missed Trago restaurant reopens as Warrens Bakery expands offer

A much-loved restaurant space at Trago Newton Abbot has reopened its doors, bringing sit-down dining, takeaway food and a children’s soft play area back to the popular shopping destination.

Warrens Bakery has expanded its presence at the site with the launch of two venues under its Goodness brand – the Staple Hill Restaurant and the adjoining Take Away Hut.

The newly reopened Staple Hill Restaurant serves a range of plated meals including roasts, fish and chips and all-day breakfasts, alongside daily specials, sandwiches, salads, rolls, toasties and Warrens Bakery’s hand-crimped pasties. Customers can also choose from cakes, chilled desserts, hot and cold drinks, and beer and wine.

The restaurant includes a children’s menu and soft play area, while dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area.

Alongside the restaurant, the Take Away Hut offers fish and chips, jacket potatoes and pizza, as well as pasties, breakfast baps and Costa coffee.

Craig Wood, assistant retail director at Warrens Bakery, said: “We’re so pleased to bring our Goodness brand to Trago’s Newton Abbot site and offer shoppers our range of freshly prepared food and hot and cold drinks.

“Whether you’re after a sit down meal in between or after shopping, or a quick and easy takeaway, we’ve got all options covered across both locations.”

Trago Group managing director Kim Ackland said: “We’re delighted to welcome customers back to the Staple Hill Restaurant at Trago Newton Abbot.

“Now operated by Warrens Bakery under the Goodness brand we’re happy to see a fresh new offer at this much-loved space while keeping the friendly atmosphere and great value our customers expect.

“We know the restaurant has been greatly missed, and we’re pleased that Warrens are offering a comfortable place for customers to relax, enjoy quality food and refreshments, and make the most of their day at Trago.”

The opening marks the latest expansion of the Goodness brand, which has been operated by Warrens Bakery for the past decade at Derriford Hospital.

According to Warrens Bakery, the Goodness concept focuses on freshly prepared food and drink served in a welcoming environment inspired by the company’s Cornish heritage.
