A nurse whose dedication to supporting people living with dementia has transformed lives has been recognised on the national stage after receiving one of the social care sector’s top honours.

Abby Lord, a care home nurse at Amica Care Trust’s Ernstell House, was named winner of the Social Care Nursing category at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards after judges praised her commitment to delivering high-quality care and support for residents living with dementia.

The awards, now in their 12th year, recognise individuals and organisations working in the not-for-profit care sector who are making a positive difference to people’s lives across the UK.

Judges highlighted Abby’s work in providing care and stimulation for residents, building trusting relationships with families and mentoring colleagues. They also praised her focus on person-centred care and her efforts to encourage high standards across the sector.
