Plymstock community hub opens its doors to people of all ages

A community hub is offering families, people with additional needs and older residents a place where they can feel supported, accepted and less alone.

T&J C.A.R.E Hub Ltd is a small, independent organisation based in Plymstock that aims to bring people of all ages together in an inclusive environment.

The hub, at 249 Dean Cross Road, opens to the wider community three days a week and welcomes families, children, young people and adults who may have additional needs.

Visitors can use a sensory room designed for people of all ages, which provides a calm environment away from noise and other pressures.

Trained staff are available to offer support, while parents and carers can have a cup of tea or coffee, talk to others or take some time for themselves.

The hub said some families could feel anxious about going out because of noise, a lack of suitable facilities or concerns that they might be judged.

It aims to provide an understanding environment where visitors can feel comfortable and supported.

T&J C.A.R.E Hub Ltd also runs an elderly day centre two days a week, providing older people with a safe and friendly place to spend time.

Transport can be arranged where needed, while activities, companionship and social interaction are intended to help reduce loneliness and isolation.

The hub was founded by Jade and Tara.

People seeking support for a relative, a place to meet others or further information can visit the hub or email tjcarehubltd@outlook.com.

T&J C.A.R.E Hub Ltd is based at 249 Dean Cross Road, Plymstock, Plymouth, PL9 7AZ.
