Two Baker Estates site managers named among UK housebuilding elite

Two Baker Estates site managers have been recognised among the best in the country after receiving one of the house-building industry’s most respected awards, placing them in the top five per cent of site managers nationwide.

Steve Hobden and Steve Damerell have both been awarded a Pride in the Job Quality Award by the National House Building Council (NHBC), recognising excellence in site management, leadership and the delivery of high-quality homes.

Selected from more than 10,000 site managers across the UK, the pair were recognised in the first round of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards.

Steve received the award for his work at Baker Estates’ Little Cotton Farm development in Dartmouth, while Steve was recognised for his work at the Little Orchard development in Tavistock.

Graham Hutton, deputy managing director of Baker Estates, said: “We are delighted that both Steves have been selected as Pride in the Job Quality Award winners for their commitment to quality and impeccable site management.

“Pride in the Job Quality Awards say a great deal about what we are trying to achieve at Baker Estates and why customers buy homes in complete confidence from us as a business.”

Commenting on the award, Steve Hobden said: “It is very satisfying to be recognised by NHBC.

“I take an enormous amount of pride in every site I work on and see this as very much a team award.

“Without everyone’s full commitment, support and hard work this award would not have been possible.”

Steve Damerell added: “Being selected as one of the UK’s top site managers is a real honour and Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded award in the house-building industry.”

The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are regarded as a benchmark for excellence in site management. Judges assess site managers across six areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

The awards recognise the role site managers play in delivering high-quality new homes and maintaining standards across the house-building industry. Baker Estates said the recognition reflects its ongoing commitment to quality construction and the delivery of new homes and communities across the South West.
